Fionna pushed her way through the packed crowd toward the front and let Cake leap back inside the bag. A burly, older-looking vampire stood up on a podium that someone had made rather quickly-
"Everyone!" His powerful voice carried over the mob, quieting everyone at once. "We all know these attacks have been getting closer and closer together. So I, your mayor, have sent out search parties again to-"
"Them searchs always come back empty!" yelled a man behind Fionna.
"Ha! Or not at all!" shouted another. The mayor looked to the ground and rubbed the back of his neck. How many times had he given this speech? Six? Maybe more, he thought, it sure felt like it.
"There's not much we can do, uh, just to be safe everyone back into there homes. Don't come out until it is announced otherwise." As the crowd dispersed slowly flying solemnly back to their homes.
"Cake, let's find that Conan guy."
"Are you crazy?! He was flirting up a storm with you!"
"Ugh, I know but he," said Fionna flying higher into the air, "knows I'm here and we need to keep a low profile. The more people that know about me the worse. Did Marshell say how long all of this," She motioned to her fangs and hair, "would last?"
"Okay, we can ask Conan about the medication, too, but your right. You could change back anytime..." They'd be dead in under a minute if that happened at the wrong time.
   ^^^^^^^
Flying fast they went back to where they had first seen the cocky vampire. Luckily, he was still there, hunched over a pail, stuffing it with rags and spray paint cans.
"Hey!" Fionna wanted her voice to sound fierce but it came out sounding like she had a serious lisp. 'Stupid fangs!' she thought.
"Oh, hey Rose, come back for more?" Conan got into her personal space (again) so Cake hissed at him as she jumped out of Fionna's purse.
"No." Fi crossed her arms, "I want answers. What's been going on? Who does everyone think killed that guy? And why haven't they got caught yet?" The serious edge on her voice ment business. Conan's eyes grew wide as she glared at him, she was actually scaring a vampire.
Conan cast his eyes down glumly, "My best friend was killed by him along with 20 or so others. Nobody knows how he got here, plenty of theories though..."
"So like, a vampire slayer is on the loose?" Marshell was most important but letting something like this continue was against her adventuress ways. Fionna looked at Cake and sighed. "I got a proposition for you..."

^^^^^^^^^^^ (back at Marshell's house)

Cotton, fluffy gray cotton. That's how Marshell would describe his head. One image came in clear though, one of his best bro. He laughed (and then coughed) when he remembered the time he had first met Fionna. He had been content with no friends since for years that's how it was, and how he thought it would always be. She sure did change that, she made a lot of things about him change.
He rolled over on his bed, it was hard like the stupid couch. 'This bites.' Marshell mumbled to the sleeping zombie cat across the room. He was so weak he couldn't  do the simplest magic. All the candles in the house couldn't be lighted by the flick of his wrist, he sighed as he lay there in the darkness. He couldn't sleep.
'Ugh, get it together, man!' He told himself. 'Why does she have to be such a radical chick that's messing with my brain?' He's glad no one could see him, he was as weak as... as... A freakin' candy person!
Marshell drifted into a peaceful sleep after hours of uncomfortable tossing and turning. In the darkness you could see a slight smile on his face as he dreamed about all his memories of Fionna, this was first time since she had left that he had stopped worried about her, the worrying would come rushing back to him as soon as he woke unfortunately.

^^^^^^^^

Conan listened as this crazy girl talked to him. Ha! It was the craziest thing to suggest hunting down a vampire hunter, especially when you are a vampire! And all the stupid gal wanted in return was some sorta meds for her sick friend!
"You'd do that for this town, that you just came to, just because it's 'right' or whatever?" Conan asked one last time, he was still trying to wrap his head around this idea of hers.
"Sounds ligit to me considering she just came up with the plan off the top of her head." commented Cake. She wasn't going to fight with Fionna on this one, the faster they get done with whatever Fionna wanted to do, the faster she could go back home.
The plan was simple. Conan was to get the medication and hold it until they fufilled their end of the deal. They were going to track down the vampire slayer and capture him, take him back to "Heartford." It was a rule, though, that Conan would tell no one. Not the mayor nor the police. Fionna wasn't concerned about what she and Cake would do with the crazy nut once they caught him. Adventurers don't plan that far ahead.

Ugh, it toke me a lot of gumption to put this out. It's a pretty lame chapter that's filled with fluff to lead up to the vampire-hunting-time kinda chapters. So don't like hate me guys! :(

I have been sooooo busy so my writing ability has gotten maybe a little rusty.
Next chapter: [link]

Conan, others in Heartland, and the place itself belong to me.

Adventure Time, Fionna and the rest belong to Pen Ward and Nat.
