Into the Nightosphere 3

When Fionna opened her eyes she saw two shocked faces staring back at her. "What? Do I look that bad?" They didn't answer, just stood there with their jaws dropped. So she looked down at herself. Her long blonde hair was now black and silky, and her skin was pale and held a tint of blue in the light.
"Whoa, Fionna, you look…"
"Like you can kick some vampire butt!" Cake interjected excitedly, "You know, if we have to do that sorta thing, ha ha…" Cake added sheepishly after looking at Marshall. She was usually totally scared of doing anything involving the Vampire King  or anyother person of the vampire race but today was different, she wanted to show Fionna that, like her, she wasn't scared of anything.
"Um…*cough* yeah," Mar Mar said dazed as he sat back down on the couch.. He just could not believe that this girl, this human girl, could make him so emotional all of a sudden. He always felt so many feelings all at once, that was so different from feeling nothing the past 1,000 years. Lee caught himself staring at his "best bro.", why did that not seem enough anymore?
"Marshall Lee?" Fionna's voice interrupted his confused thoughts. "Cake went searching for an another backpack for me since I can't obviously carry this one around." She stated holding up her favorite green backpack, it went with her everywhere until now. Fi walked over and plopped the heavy backpack right in his lap. Her scent coming from the pack enveloped him.
"What's this for?"
"I want you to protect it," She smiled as she sat next to him. "This is the highest honor any adventuress like myself can give to someone." Fionna laughed at her own joke feeling her new fangs click against her lower teeth.
"I got something *cough* for you, too. *cough*" He went into the kitchen and shifted through a drawer until he pulled out a necklace with an old diamond-shaped gray stone with little glints of sparkling crystal."I opened a portal that's on another side of the Nightosphere, *cough* this will guide you to any location you wish to go." Fionna stood up and Marshall wrapped his arms around her neck, clasping the magic necklace in place. The coolness of his hands made her brain feel all fluttery. This feeling was also shared by Marshall Lee when his hands brushed against her warm skin.
"Guys, I found something!" Cake called from down the hall. They quickly broke apart, blushing as Cake walked into the room holding a purple purse in her paw. It was designed to sling over the shoulder and across the chest.
"Though the portal won't *cough* last much longer, you need to get a move on…" Marshall told them cutting through the awkward silence. The portal glowed and wavered as he spoke.
"Don't worry, just sit and relax and we'll be back before you know it!" Fi said cheerfully. Cake grabbed her hand and they each took a step into the Nightosphere.
